Born in Thonon, Savoie, Pauline Moynat settled in Paris at the age of 16 and witnessed the rise of the first railroads and the opening of the first train stations. A determined visio-nary, Pauline realized that trunks and accessories offered a unique development opportunity. She soon ran a trunk-making workshop founded in 1849 and renowned for its expertise and technical innovations.
1869 - THE FIRST BOUTIQUE
In 1869, Pauline opened the first Moynat boutique at 1 Avenue de l’Opéra in Paris, a rapidly developing and trend neighborhood.

THE FIRST ATELIER
The House’s first atelier was located on Rue Capron in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. Deliveries by horse-drawn carriage were organized to deliver the trunks. In 1907, opening of the Moynat factory at rue Coysevox, employing 250 trunk-makers.
