    Among the innovations that marked the history of MOYNAT was the weatherproof “English trunk”, first invented in 1854 and characterised by its canvas coated in gutta-percha, then a newly discovered vegetal gum from Indonesia.

  • The Toile1920

    True to the spirit for the house, MOYNAT continued to further improve this emblematic canvas in 1920 with Henri Rapin. This important collaboration led to the birth of the « M » monogram. These first monogramed trunks were custom made in the MOYNAT workshop in Paris.

    • A discerning signature

      The “M” is delicately picked out in bronze, metallic pigment, giving a 3D impression in the monogram. One face carries a sporty tri-colour stripe that recalls the historic personalised trunks and the MOYNAT medallion, individually hand screened on each bag.

    • The Art Of Personalisation

      MOYNAT hand painted coloured ribbons, clients’ initials, and family crests on the trunks so they can recognised easily. These personalised signatures also allowed the porters to identify the trunks quickly during the long journeys on the Orient-Express and luxurious liners. The tradition of personalisation still continues today.

    • Unique lettering service

      Each unique lettering is individually painted by hand (in absence of stencils), with the font type from the house’s archives or special creations.

      An emblematic Toile1920 collection with different shades of tri-colour ribbons, showcasing delicate new associations of colours, created for a modern traveller.
